About the author
Hi I’m Louisa the Poet and Author
This is the part of my website that’s about the author, about me. I can’t remember ever not wanting to write, and after a successful and long career as a Digital Communications Professional, my first non-fiction book How to Leave a Group Chat which was published on the 28th June 2024. How to Leave a Group Chat draws on the knowledge that I have gained over the years working as a Communications Professional, as well as coming of age at the same time as these technologies which have blossomed into the essential tech that shapes our daily lives. This isn’t the extent of my writing – I also frequently write poetry and I am open to commissions.
Poetry
I have been writing poetry since primary school…probably. My first poem, Trapped, was published at the age of 12, and I went on to have two other poems published in National Poetry anthologies in my teens. In 2020 I came runner up in the Dylan Thomas Day Love the Words competition, and I have also been featured in the poetry section of the newspaper Reading Today, performed at the East Reading festival, and also featured twice on BBC Uploads (with more to come). I perform regularly at poetry open mic events across the South East of England, appearing as a finalist at Slamageddon 2026 in Portsmouth and as part of the poetic line-up at Swindon Wordsmiths just a few days later. I have self-published three poetry zines: Childhood, Adulting and Nature, and there will be more to follow.
